THE ROAST OF KOCHINA RUDE is a live fundraiser event with laughs, insults, an exclusive merch drop, and a live auction on items ranging from apparel to tattoos with local artists! Derived from Spanish slang “cochina” meaning “filthy pig,” Kochina’s panel of pork roasters include Maddy Morphosis, Nicki Jizz, Mary Vice, Phoebe Cakes, the House of Rude, and more; hosted by Lisa Frankenstein & Princess Panocha, with special guests including SF Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, House of More!, Haus of Princx, and more.
About the fundraiser:
In 2021, after reversing an overdose at Folsom Street Fair, Kochina began providing free kits of Narcan nasal spray for audiences at weekly drag show PRINCESS (SF OASIS) in partnership with the SF DOPE Project; since then, her advocacy has gained national attention on behalf of community members vulnerable for opioid overdoses, specifically queer people in nightlife settings who use drugs. While providing no-cost Narcan to partygoers remains the focus, fentanyl test strips have become a popular commodity among people in bars and clubs, so it makes sense to provide those too. Sacrificing dignity for charity, Kochina’s obsession with harm reduction may be appeased as we work toward a goal of $5,000 to support fentanyl test strip resources for the South of Market community. THE ROAST OF KOCHINA RUDE is a cabaret-style event with both seated and standing room tickets available, including VIP runway seating. Doors open at 10PM with the program starting promptly at 10:30PM. This is a marathon-style fundraiser with a live auction component during intermission between acts. Attendees are encouraged to leave their seats to use the restrooms, purchase an exclusive Kochina Rude shirt, and order drinks at the bar at any time during the program. (Table service is provided for seated tickets.) Performances will vary between live microphoned sets and lipsync numbers. It is a late-nite event; you can stay up on a Thursday night to support the cause just this once. Do it for filthy pigs. Do it for Johnny.
