A drag celebration of the music of Sinéad O’Connor.
Join an epic cast of San Francisco drag queens as we gather for a night of beauty, emotion, and community to honor this legendary performer’s cathartic and inspirational creations. Her music can bring one to tears as quickly as it can make one dance, and many times it makes one do both at the same time! Her moving, unique, and timeless music needs to be celebrated and lifted up – and who better than drag artists to do it justice?
Sinéad O’Connor produced her own albums and remained fiercely independent throughout her musical career, and her talent on guitar and writing abilities were a force to be reckoned with. She took control of her artistic directions and decisions unapologetically, and refused to conform to others’ expectations both onstage and off. For so many, her voice was a call to action, to honor one’s individuality and not be shamed into silence or submission to the mainstream.
To sing loudly and to sing in protest is a gift to those who need to hear it.
In addition to her incredible canon of music, Shuhada’ Sadaqat throughout her life consistently used her platform as a way to bring attention to issues related to child abuse, human rights, racism, organized religion, LGBTQ+ rights and women’s rights. She was an outspoken activist who was vocal about her spiritual journey and her political views, as well as her own experiences with abuse and her own mental and physical health struggles. She was a complicated and incredibly talented musician and vocalist who inspired generations, and whose legendary voice will not be forgotten.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to The Trevor Project.
